The Shad program is a widespread STEAM and entrepreneurship program for students in grades 10 and 11. This program runs every summer at university campuses across Canada, and with limited spots available, a selection process is in place. What is the Shad Program?
Shad is a STEAM and entrepreneurial program during which students participate in hands-on learning, collaborate with their design teams, and explore post-secondary campuses. During the Shad program, students tackle real-world problems with their design team and mentors by developing STEAM-based solutions. Students then pitch these solutions to panels of judges.
This year, Shad Canada will be running two distinct programs: ShadonCampus and ShadAnywhere, and students can apply to both programs with one application. Both programs run throughout July, with the ShadAnywhere program running virtually through Athabasca University and the ShadonCampus program running at 19 different university campuses across Canada. High school students currently in grades 10 and 11 are invited to apply.
Shad connects students with like-minded peers and mentors to help build their community and network. It also helps students explore different academic pathways and gain valuable experience for post-secondary. In addition, ShadonCampus allows students to experience living on a university campus, away from home.
