Ace Your Video Interview

on

If you’re applying to post-secondary programs in engineering, business, or the performing arts, you may be required to submit a video interview as part of your application. Interviews can be scary, and video interviews even more so—what if the technology glitches or you mess up?!—but don’t be scared. With some preparation, you can enter your interview feeling confident. One good way to do this is by attending the Video Interview Workshop, which is run by Options’ expert on interviewing, Monika Gay.

We get it: interviewing can be hard

There’s the stress of having to speak clearly and logically in a short amount of time. In most cases, you’re not given the questions in advance. It may seem like interviews are designed for people who excel at public speaking, can think quickly, and know how to present themselves in the best light. Well, that’s good for them, but what do the rest of us do?

Prepare. And then practice, practice, and practice again.

See interviews as opportunities

Interviews are opportunities to demonstrate your ability to work through a problem, reflect on challenges, and present your ideas. They can give you the chance to tell a part of your story or show off your friendly and charming personality. The interview doesn’t have to be horrible; in fact, it can be empowering.

Attend the Video Interview Workshop

The workshop echoes and builds upon the tips in this post about interview success. Students will learn about the main components of video interview requirements and the typical kinds of questions asked. They will then have time to come up with their own answers to some sample questions, practice, and then evaluate and improve on their responses.

The workshop takes place virtually on August 19th from 10 am-1 pm and September 12th from 10 am-1 pm and into the fall. To register for a spot, contact us at info@optionssolutionsed.com or 604-922-8456.
