STRONG INTEREST INVENTORY now available at Options Solutions

on

The STRONG Interest Inventory is a valuable tool for adolescents making decisions about potential college/university majors, post-secondary institutions, and future employment. At this stage, most students’ interests are beginning to solidify and the STRONG profile results are useful for long-range educational and career-planning purposes. In fact, remarkable levels of interest stability have been found for people tested over a twelve year interval first as university freshman and then later as working adults. The STRONG allows students to see their results in a College Profile, a report specifically geared for grade 11 and grade 12 students. While registered psychologists can give the STRONG, very few people are actually certified to administer it. Melinda Giampietro attended the STRONG Interest Inventory Certification Program from February 2nd-4th at SIAST in Regina, SK.

The Inventory gives feedback in four areas:

General Occupational Themes: Summarizes your interests according to a personality theory and indicates which of six different personality types might most closely describe you and the environment in which you like to work. It answers the questions: Who am I? and What motivates me?

Basic Interest Scale: Organizes your interests into thirty areas and highlights what you said you would like and not like to do. It answers the question: What do I like to do?

Occupational Scales: Indicates which types of people across a wide range of occupations, share interests in common with you. It answers the question: What might I want to do?

Personal Style Scales: Measures five ways in which your personal preferences or styles might influence your choice of work environments. It answers the questions: How do I like to learn? and How do I like to work?
