UBC Okanagan has launched an exciting new Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) program, providing students with a robust and globally recognized credential in business education. Replacing the previously offered Bachelor of Management degree, the BCom marks a significant advancement for UBCO’s Faculty of Management and students seeking a comprehensive, career-focused business education in the Okanagan Valley.
A Business Degree for the Modern World
The Bachelor of Commerce at UBCO prepares students to become responsible, strategic leaders ready to tackle the complexities of today’s dynamic business environment. With a curriculum grounded in real-world relevance, students will develop the critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills necessary to succeed across industries and sectors, from entrepreneurial ventures to multinational corporations.
Over the four-year program, students will begin with foundational business courses before specializing in one of several concentrations in their upper years. These focused pathways allow students to tailor their degree to match their professional interests and career goals.
Program Concentrations
Students in the BCom program can choose from five concentrations: Accounting, Finance, General Business Management, Marketing, and Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources. In addition to these concentrations, students can pursue minors in complementary areas such as Communications and Rhetoric, Cultural Studies, Data Science, Economics, Sociology, and many more. These options allow students to expand their knowledge across disciplines, increasing their career versatility.
Experiential Learning and Career Readiness
UBCO’s BCom program emphasizes experiential learning, ensuring students apply classroom knowledge in real-world contexts. Opportunities include:
