September Enrichment Programs

Although negotiations are still in progress to proceed with students’ return to school in early September, we want to ensure that students don’t start behind in their curriculum or lose instructional time if, for many students, the start of school is disrupted. In order to help students make the most of their time, we are offering the following courses:

Math 12 Boot Camp

A one-week course introducing the concepts of Pre-Calculus Math 12 for students entering grade 12 math (this course is preparatory and not for credit).  The course is a conceptual overview of the full year’s curriculum, and will introduce the main concepts. It is a discussion based format and materials are provided.

Dates: Mon, Sept 8th – Fri, Sept 12th; 12:00 – 3:00 PM daily (WV office)

Chemistry 11 Boot Camp

A one-day course introducing the concepts of Chemistry 11 for students entering grade 11 Chemistry (this course is preparatory and not for credit). The course will cover unit conversions, stoichiometry, and atomic theory & bonding. It is a discussion-based format and materials are provided.

Date: Mon, Sept 8th; 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (WV office)

Physics 11 Boot Camp

A one-day course introducing the concepts of Physics 11 for students entering grade 11 Physics (this course is preparatory and not for credit). The course will cover unit conversions, kinematics, dynamics, momentum, and energy/work. It is a discussion-based format and materials are provided.

Date: Tue, Sept 9th; 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM (WV office)

Foundational English Skills: Grade 8-10

Sessions are designed to give new and current high school students a solid understanding of English grammar and writing conventions. Sessions will provide students with the knowledge and tools to enhance their communication abilities and to set the foundation for English 8, 9, and 10. Sessions will teach students the English basics in an accessible and interactive manner and give them the skills to write with confidence.

Dates: Wed, Sept 10th & Thurs, Sept 11th; 12:00 – 3:00 PM daily (WV office)

Mon, Sept 15th & Tues, Sept 16th; 12:00 – 3:00 PM daily (SG office)

Math – Fri, Sept 5th; 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (WV office)

Study Skills Sessions

These intensive study skills sessions are designed to help students be academically prepared for their educational futures. Students will leave the workshop armed with the knowledge, skills, strategies, and reference material required to prepare them for academic success.

Dates: Grade 8 & 9 – Sat, Sept 6th; 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (WV office)

Grade 10-12 – Sat, Sept 6th; 1:30 – 4:30 PM (WV office)

 

**Note: If the start of school is further delayed, we will offer programs the week of September 15th – 19th on: Pre-Calculus Math 11; Chemistry 12; Physics 12. Please contact the office for more information about these tentatively scheduled sessions.
