With winter break approaching, Options Solutions wants to ensure students are prepared to submit their upcoming university applications and explore the post-secondary options available to them. We are offering the following sessions:
Law 101 Workshop – Tuesday, December 29th from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM (South Granville office)
The path to law school requires careful planning and identifying the “right” school involves consideration of a student’s interests and career aspirations. This three-hour workshop is geared towards post-secondary students planning to apply to law school. It will cover the following topics:
- Career considerations
- Becoming a lawyer – the process
- Law school options – what different law schools offer
- Exploration of courses of study and “fit”
- LSAT goals, oversight, and preparation recommendations
- Law school admission and application assistance
This session will be taught by Kerry Sheppard, Options Solutions’ Law School Education Consultant. Kerry has the experience and perspective to help students assess the pros and cons of a legal career, to identify their law school options, and to navigate the admissions process. Kerry also is available to meet with post-secondary students on an individual basis.
Video Interview Workshop – Wednesday, December 30th from 3:00 – 5:00 PM (South Granville office)
This 2-hour session prepares students for the video interview components of university applications, such as those required by the commerce programs at UBC, University of Toronto and York University, as well as the engineering program at the University of Toronto. The session will include a presentation that outlines the main components of video interview requirements, as well as a practical guide for successfully completing those videos. The guide covers topics such as:
- body language and appearance
- technical set-up
- coping strategies for nerves
- tips on answering prompts
English 12 Provincial Prep Kick-Start – Saturday, December 12th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (South Surrey office)
The English 12 provincial exam is coming up and it’s worth 40% of a student’s final grade! Since students who begin their prep early tend to do best, Options Solutions is holding a 2-hour kick-start study session, which will introduce students to what they need to know, provide them with strategies to tackle the essays and multiple-choice questions, and give them enough time to prepare (and learn the long list of literary terms).
