Canadian Universities Event – Updates & Highlights

On Tuesday, October 6 the Options Team of Consultants (Melinda, Edwin, Sara and Amanda) and Office Managers (Michelle and Brittany) travelled downtown to meet with university representatives from across Canada.  It was the annual CUE (Canadian Universities Event) held at the Marriott Hotel.  While we enjoyed warm pretzels and tea, we got a brief snapshot of the updates and new programs at all 52 universities represented.  Here are few of our highlights:

Emily Carr University is building an amazing new campus on Great Northern Way, slated to open in Fall 2017.

Fairleigh Dickinson University, founded in New York, has opened its first Canadian campus in Vancouver!  With a focus on Global Education, FDU offers four degrees in a small environment with only 800 students from a whopping 72 countries.

MacEwan University in Edmonton is opening its new Centre for Arts and Culture in 2017.

Mount Allison University in Sackville, NB is proud to announce that they have the highest number of Rhodes Scholars per capita in Canada!  This small Liberal Arts University has an Open House in Vancouver on November 3.  https://discover.mta.ca/Datatel.ERecruiting.Web.External/Pages/Events.aspx

Did you know that you can get a Bachelor’s degree and a Pilot’s License at Mount Royal University in Calgary?

St. Thomas University in Fredricton, NB is partnering with HBX of Harvard Business School to offer students CORe fundamentals of the Business Program.  STU is the first school in Canada to offer this program.

New this year, UBC has added a mandatory video interview for applicants to Sauder School of Business and is allowing dual admission offers from both the Vancouver and Okanagan campuses.

Wilfred Laurier has introduced a new Law School program where you can do a Bachelor of Arts and a Law Degree in conjunction with Sussex University in London in 6 years!

Did you know that University of Manitoba offers the lowest tuition in the country?

UBC-O offers a travel reimbursement to interested students.  If you wish see their campus, your travel expenses can be deducted from your tuition.
