Simon Fraser University is opening its doors to showcase science and astronomy on Saturday, May 9. The event is part of Science Rendezvous, a nation-wide science celebration that takes place in 40 cities across Canada on May 9. In addition, the event is also celebrating International Astronomy Day with the assistance of the Vancouver chapter of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada. Interactive science activities, space displays, a magic chemistry show, opportunities to tour the Trottier Observatory Science Courtyard and talks on the Northern Lights and the Apollo and moon missions are just some of the day’s activities. Students can build their own spectroscope and win prizes in the Amazing Science Chase.
All these events are free and the scheduled activities will appeal to every age group. 2015 also happens to be the International Year of Light, so all these fantastic scientific celebrations will be commemorated on one day. Please see the flyer below for more information.
