If you’re a grade 11 student who is planning on applying to US post-secondary schools and who is seeking help to prepare for the SAT or ACT exams, we can help! Our weekly group preparation sessions will begin on Thursday, February 6th with a session on Test-taking strategies. Sessions will be held weekly from February to June at our West Vancouver office location on Thursday evenings from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
All of our SAT/ACT prep options are geared towards the May and June exam dates. The prep at Options Solutions is focused on two areas: test-taking skills and curriculum development. The first area focuses on understanding the exam in order to gain tools and strategies to “beat” it. This area also focuses on developing test-taking strategies and critical-thinking skills. The second area focuses on learning the content that is assessed on each exam, such as math concepts, grammar rules, and vocabulary. Research proves that long term, consistent prep is the most valuable way to study and retain knowledge. Right now, May seems very far away, but it will be here before we know it.
Options Solutions prep is unique in that it is modified for the needs of the group. Each year, we identify our students’ strengths and growth-areas and then customize our sessions to meet their needs. We do not subscribe to formulaic methods or power points, nor do we utilize the ineffective “drill and kill” model. Please note that NO materials are re-used, so students are free to attend any session, and although the sessions do build on each other in order to reinforce skills, students easily can join at any point during the cycle.
