NHL Power Players: Remote

For students who are passionate about hockey and interested in leadership, media, marketing, or sports business, the NHL Power Players program offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of the game.

Now entering its eighth season, NHL Power Players is the NHL’s official Youth Advisory Board. Each year, teens from across Canada and the United States are selected to share their ideas directly with the League and contribute to conversations about how hockey can better connect with younger audiences.

What are NHL Power Players?

NHL Power Players brings together hockey fans ages 13-17 to advise the NHL on topics that matter to their generation. Participants collaborate with peers from across North America and take part in discussions throughout the season focused on areas such as:

  • Marketing and social media
  • Fan engagement
  • Community initiatives
  • NHL events and experiences
  • Understanding and growing the game

The program is designed to give young fans a voice while also introducing them to the business and operations side of professional sports.

What Participants Do

Power Players participate in virtual discussions and online meetings throughout the season, where they provide feedback and ideas to NHL staff and leadership.

Students may also have opportunities to:

  • Be featured in NHL social media or marketing campaigns
  • Attend major NHL events with their families
  • Receive exclusive NHL merchandise and experiences
  • Connect with other hockey fans across North America
  • Learn more about careers in sports and entertainment

The focus is not on hockey skill or competitive play. Instead, the program is centred around leadership, communication, creativity, and engagement with the sport.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

NHL Power Players is a strong extracurricular for students as it allows them to contribute ideas at a professional level while building confidence and collaboration skills. Because participants work with peers from across North America, the program also offers networking and community-building opportunities beyond a student’s local area.

For students who love hockey and want to be involved in the future of the sport beyond the rink, NHL Power Players offers a distinctive opportunity. Whether students are interested in sports business, media, marketing, or community engagement, the program provides meaningful experience and direct exposure to the professional sports industry.
