Why So Many Grade 11 Families Attended Our What to Expect in Grade 12 Event

on

Last week, we hosted What to Expect in Grade 12, our annual free event for grade 11 families. We set a record for attendance, giving more students than ever the chance to dive into the admissions process early.

Don’t worry, you didn’t miss your opportunity to attend! We’re hosting one more What to Expect in Grade 12 webinar this spring. Join us virtually on April 30th at 6:30 pm. This event is completely free, but registration is required.

This informative and engaging presentation gives students and parents insider insight into navigating the admissions process from the spring of grade 11 through to June of 2027. Options president and founder Melinda Giampietro explores all parts of the admissions process and timeline, including what has changed over the past year. Our panel of current grade 12 students will also share what they have learned firsthand as they moved through the process themselves.

But why does starting the admissions process in the spring of grade 11 matter in the first place?

Why Starting the Admissions Process Early Matters

One of the biggest advantages students can give themselves in the admissions process is time. Starting the spring of grade 11 allows students to approach applications thoughtfully rather than reactively. Instead of rushing to meet deadlines, students who begin early can research programs, understand admissions requirements, and identify supplemental applications they may need to prepare.

An early start can also create space for reflection. Many universities ask students to write personal statements, complete video interviews, or describe their extracurricular involvement. When students begin thinking about these elements in advance, they are better able to articulate their experiences and present themselves authentically.

Finally, learning about the admissions timeline early helps reduce stress. Understanding key dates, required materials, and application steps allows families to plan ahead and avoid last-minute surprises during already busy times of the year.

If you missed last week’s event, or just want to make sure you’re fully prepared for the year ahead, we invite you to join our final What to Expect in Grade 12 webinar this spring. Register here.
