Capilano University Summer Intensives: Squamish, BC
For high school students looking to expand their knowledge and experience university-level learning, Capilano University’s Summer Intensives in Squamish offer a unique opportunity. These programs allow students to immerse themselves in specialized subjects, gain valuable skills, and experience life on a university campus.
Why Participate in CapU’s Summer Intensives?
Capilano University’s summer programs provide an interactive, place-based learning approach that connects students with experienced instructors, peers, and real-world applications of their studies. Students will have the option to live on campus, enjoy catered meals, and take in the breathtaking scenery of Squamish, B.C.—all while engaging in hands-on, university-level learning.
Summer 2025 Programs for High School Students
CapU’s summer intensives include two programs specifically open to high school students:
COMP 115 – Learn to Code (4 credits)
For students interested in computer science, this introductory course covers the principles of coding, problem-solving, and structured programming. Students will learn how to develop algorithms, write quality code, and apply computational thinking to real-world challenges. The course is taught using a modern, high-level programming language such as Python.
Dates: July 7 – 18, 2025 (Monday to Friday, with the weekend open) Check-in: July 6, 2025
Check-out: July 18, 2025
Application Deadline: May 31, 2025


BIOL 120 – Environmental Field Studies (3 credits)
Students interested in biology and environmental science can explore the region’s biodiversity through field-based research. This program introduces students to ecological monitoring, conservation practices, and the natural history of the Squamish area. Students will participate in field projects and gain hands-on experience conducting scientific research.
Dates: July 21 – August 1, 2025 (Monday to Friday, with the weekend open)
Check-in: July 20, 2025
Check-out: August 1, 2025
Application Deadline: May 31, 2025
