McGill Personal Finance Essentials Course
Does thinking about personal finances seem overwhelming? Or maybe you’re curious about how to make sound financial decisions and can’t wait to learn more! Either way, you can’t go wrong with becoming more informed about how to manage your money – both for the immediate and long-term future!
The McGill Personal Finance Essentials Course is an online course taught by professors from McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management, in collaboration with RBC and The Globe and Mail, designed to increase your financial literacy and help you take charge of your financial future. The course is open to everyone and available at no cost. Invest a few hours to build your financial knowledge, covering everything from budgeting and borrowing to real estate and retirement planning.

- Budgeting and Saving. Build a budget that actually works for your life.
- Your Money: Today and Tomorrow. Understand the influence of time on the value of your money.

- Retirement Planning. Learn about the multiple sources of retirement income to help you prepare early.
- The Realities of Real Estate. Navigate one of the biggest financial decisions you’ll make.
- Behavioural Finance. Understand human behaviour in investing.
Plus, there are bonus modules on responsible investing and cryptocurrencies if you want to go deeper.
Get a Credential
Finish all eight core modules and tests, and you’ll receive a McGill Personal Finance Essentials attestation of completion to show employers or add to your resume.
