High school students looking to get a head start on university life can explore practical business skills through the University of Victoria’s Gustavson School of Business online workshops. These free Zoom sessions give students a taste of university-level learning while building skills they can use now and in the future.
Entrepreneurship 101: What Makes a Good Side-Hustle?

Got a side-hustle idea? Join Dr. Brock Smith and Dr. Claudia Smith to learn how to evaluate and grow your ideas with insights from UVic faculty, industry experts, and guest speakers. This interactive session covers the essentials of entrepreneurship and offers a hands-on look at university-level business classes.
You’ll gain practical knowledge to start your own project, understand what makes a side-hustle succeed, and get inspired to take action this summer.


Finance 101: Personal Finance for Students Preparing for College & University
Date: Thursday, November 20, 2025 | Time: 6 p.m. PST
Grades: 9–12
Join Dr. Michael King for an engaging session on managing money, building credit, saving, and investing. Learn practical financial skills to prepare for university and future independence, including budgeting, mobile banking, and understanding credit scores and investment basics like stocks, bonds, and ETFs.
