Options Alumni: Justin Fishman

on

We have so many stellar Options alumni, and in our new series, we wanted to shine a light on a few of our past clients who have gone on to do great things both near and far. This month, we chatted with Justin about what he’s been up to since he graduated and his advice for current post-secondary students.

What’s Your Name?

Justin Fihsman.

Where and what did you study?

I studied philosophy at Reed College and Oxford University, and law at Harvard Law School.

How did you choose this institution and program?

With a lot of advice from Options Solutions! I chose Reed for my undergrad because it offered a uniquely rich intellectual life both inside and outside the classroom. I decided to continue my philosophy studies at Oxford because of its concentration of resources and researchers working on the philosophy of law, my primary interest at the time. Finally, I landed on Harvard Law because of the wide variety of areas of law in which the school particularly excels.

What would you tell current post-secondary students about finding a path?

It’s okay not to have it all figured out in high school. Undergrad is a great time to explore different interests and to find the intersection of what you love and what you’re good at. Give yourself the freedom to change your mind and your plans.

What are you doing now?

I’m working as an attorney in Washington, DC, focused on administrative law and antitrust litigation.

What at Options Solutions helped you the most?

I gained the most from writing workshops. They helped me not only to find my voice, but also to think through what I was looking for in my education and community of learning.

A fun fact about you?

I can wiggle each ear independently.

We help you navigate the complex post-secondary selection process in Canada, the United States, the UK and abroad.
