Our team had a busy May! From our annual “What to Expect as a Grade 12 Parent” event and a presentation at the Surrey Teachers’ Association Convention to Edwin’s whirlwind trip to the UK to explore a number of their post-secondary school campuses and a co-hosted fundraiser with ME to WE, our staff is working hard to give back to our community, as well as ensure our team is up-to-date on the latest admissions information so we can help our clients with their post-secondary planning.
Here are some highlights from the month:
Edwin’s “Explore England” UK Universities Tour
Our consultant Edwin had the opportunity to join a select number of counsellors from across North America on an “Explore England” tour that covered visits to Northumbria, Lancaster, The University of Manchester, Keele, and the University of Birmingham. Our annual “What to Expect as a Grade 12 Parent” Event
The night focused on sharing information about the current trends in post-secondary education, and how parents can help prepare their students for the post-secondary application process in grade 12. We recognize that the field of educational consulting is still fairly young in BC and that some families wonder how to make the best use of our full-service model. Once again, the highlight of our annual “What to Expect as a Grade 12 Parent” event was our panel of grade 12 students. We wanted our families to hear first-hand from some of our grade 12 students about which of our services they used and what they found helpful about our services. Here, our students answer the question: “What do you know now that you wish you had known at the beginning of the school year?”
Want your own “What to Expect as a Grade 12 Parent” event?
We’re now preparing to launch a series of PAC presentations for Fall 2017 and Spring 2018. Melinda will be available to host informational talks during September and October, as well as February to April in conjunction with PACs around the Lower Mainland to provide students and families with the information to make informed post-secondary decisions.
We would love to work with your school PAC to host a presentation at your school! We welcome the opportunity to work with any school official, PAC member, or parent to create a dynamic event for your community. Read more about the speaking engagements we offer here. If you’re interested in hosting a presentation at your school, please e-mail info@options-wp.chhdev.com.
