Here is what’s happening at Options Solutions this week:

Monday, August 22nd – Friday, August 26th (West Vancouver)

Summer is the best time for students to get a jump start on their curriculum for the coming school year. Students taking Math 11 can get an overview of the year ahead at our Pre-Calculus 11 Boot Camp, which will review and explain all the necessary learning outcomes and content areas prescribed by the Ministry.

Monday, August 22nd – Friday, August 26th (West Vancouver)

Summer is the best time for students to get a jump start on their curriculum for the coming school year. Students taking Calculus 12 or first-year calculus can get an overview of the year ahead at our Intro to Calculus Boot Camp, which will review and explain all the necessary learning outcomes and content areas prescribed by the Ministry and universities.

Tuesday, August 23rd (South Granville)

High schools do a good job of micro-managing students’ curriculum knowledge and assessing it in small chunks. At university, the first assessment or mid-term usually covers four to five chapters of material, with no prior check for understanding. Our University Send-Off Course will explore this change in learning style, as well as many of the other issues that confront students in their first six weeks on campus. The session is an open and frank dialogue about what to expect and what tools students need to be successful.

Tuesday, August 23rd – Thursday, August 25th (West Vancouver)

It’s never too early to start preparing for the English 12 Provincial Exam! In our experience, the most successful students are those who start their prep early and keep practicing consistently. Our English 12 Boot Camp will engage students through a variety of exercises, and students will leave the session with a solid foundation to begin the school year.

Wednesday, August 24th – Friday, August 26th (West Vancouver)

Academic writing often strikes students as inaccessible and confusing. Our Intro to University Level Writing Workshop is designed to introduce new graduated high school students to the the theory and practice of academic writing. Students will cover active reading, critical thinking and note-taking, basic research and outlining, and citations, and will do some hands-on writing to practice crafting an argument and incorporating other voices into their work.
