Gianluca Agostinelli has compiled a diverse, interdisciplinary list of twenty recently launched undergraduate degrees for students to consider during the upcoming 2022-2023 application period. Check out our seventh program feature below.
Bachelor of Sustainability and Financial Management – University of Waterloo (Waterloo, Ontario)
Become a finance expert with a purpose by learning to integrate people, profits, and the planet into the bottom line. Through this one-of-a-kind program, students will fuse knowledge of accounting and financial management from Waterloo’s School of Accounting and Finance with the Faculty of Environment’s expertise in sustainability. Plus, students will be able to explore careers and gain valuable skills for their careers by graduating with 16 months of paid co-op work experience.
The Sustainability and Financial Management (SFM) program is a direct route to a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.


Throughout the degree, you’ll take a mix of accounting, finance, sustainability, and environmental courses. After finishing second year, students can customize their pathway by selecting a specialization that reflects their interests:
• Corporate Sustainability (CPA pathway)
• Government Policy and Financial Markets (CFA pathway)
The University of Waterloo also recently launched a new program Climate and Environmental Change.
