on

Throughout the academic year, Melinda Giampietro, Options Founder/President, will share some of her favourite things in her monthly Founder’s Feature. Melinda loves reading, data, research, and following academic and adolescent news around the world.

Again, this year, the team and I created our Holiday Gift Guide for Teens. We love putting this together. Let us know your thoughts!

1. Anecdote Candles $47

These are crack up funny and smell so good. My two favourites are: Mistletoe (Smells Like a Silent Wingman) and Quarter Life Crisis (Smells Like Panic and No Disco).

2. She’s Birdie $39.95
(personal safety device)

Living in downtown Vancouver, I have my She’s Birdie on my bag always.

3. Carter Carry Tumbler $40 USD

I know that the Stanley is all the rage, but this coffee tumbler is just so darn practical. I love mine: Carter Carry Tumbler

And you can personalize it! I love nothing more than a good, solid monogram.

4. Rosyclo Pillow Cloud Slippers $29.99

I’ve got two pairs of these slippers: indoor and outdoor. They’re SERIOUSLY comfortable and like portable Anti-Fatigue Mats. The only times they’re not on my feet are when I’ve switched to winter slippers (The North Face ThermoBalls), or I’m in need of a pedicure.

5. Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm $32.50

This is, by far, the best lip balm I’ve ever used – its hydrating power is ideal for Canadian winters.  Plus, it lasts forever! Summer Fridays is vegan, cruelty free, and would make an excellent Stocking Stuffer.

6. Lululemon Everywhere Belt Bag
$44-$52

Lululemon has seemingly become Gen Z’s uniform, and these belt bags sell out for a reason. Perfect for running, walking, or anything in between, the Everywhere Belt Bag comes in several colors that suit a range of tastes!

7. Starface Pimple Patches $40.50

While the rest of us are hiding our blemishes with concealer, today’s youth have learned to embrace – even enhance – their natural skin. Starface Pimple Patches cover blemishes not to hide them, but to help them heal! This is a gift that is both fun and practical.

8. Herschel Wallet $45

Does your child leave their cash and cards swimming in their backpacks or jacket pockets? Herschel, another Vancouver-based company, makes products to solve this problem that are both fashionable and durable.

9. Lego Bonsai Tree $57

Plants are a source of joy, but keeping plants alive, not so much! The idea of a perennial bonsai that requires no upkeep has major appeal. Lego building has lots of benefits for both kids and adults; it enhances problem-solving skills, and promotes relaxation.

10. Little Words Project $30

For the Taylor Swift fan in your family! Little Words Project’s bracelets come pre-made or customizable, perfect for putting their favourite TSwift lyrics on.

LWP’s jewelry is equally as suitable for sending them off to university with a little piece of home with – your family’s initials, favourite phrases, the options are endless.

11. Apple Air Tags $115 for 4

I’ve got Air Tags in my wallet, on my phone, and attached to my keys, because, well, you can never be too careful! I love gifting Air Tags – they’re something one doesn’t often think to get for themselves, but appreciates when they have it! Another great place for them is attached to your pet’s collar!
