Workshops for students heading into Grades 8-10
Options English 101
This four-day workshop is designed for students who want to build their foundational English skills (grammar, reading, sentence crafting) and improve their writing in a variety of essay styles. Through instruction and individualized feedback, students will gain confidence in their ability to write argumentative, literary analysis, synthesis, and research essays.

Writing for Self-Expression Level 1
Want to gain confidence in your ability to express yourself through writing and develop your authentic voice? This interactive two-day workshop helps students improve their creative and descriptive writing abilities while building their confidence and developing their reflective writing skills.

Workshops for students heading into Grades 11-12
Mastering the Essay
This three-day workshop is the perfect way to prepare for English Studies 12 and English First Peoples 12 and gives students the opportunity to begin building the foundation for later success. Students will have a chance to work on several different styles of essays: literary analysis, synthesis, narrative, and argumentative. In addition, they learn and implement strategies to help them more actively engage with literature.

Writing for Self Expression Level 2
Want to gain confidence in your ability to express yourself through writing? This interactive three-day workshop prepares students to develop the fundamentals for university application responses and essays. Students will develop their narrative writing skills by analyzing writing samples and learning how to effectively employ elements such as character, imagery, and plot.

Workshops for Grade 12 Grads
Intro to University-Level Writing
This three-day course prepares students bound for post-secondary by discussing strategies for successful research, critical thinking, and writing while giving students a chance to practice these skills and receive individualized feedback. In this workshop, students are taught how to write a research essay, from finding and annotating academic peer-reviewed sources to writing a research proposal and editing their essay.
