UBC Enrolment Up for 2012/2013 School Year

With the expansion of their enrolment policy beyond only GPA to a new, more “personalized service model” for first-year undergraduates, the University of British Columbia (UBC) admitted 6,324 new students to both its campuses, a four percent overall increase from last year. Of those admitted, nearly 3,800 students are from BC secondary schools.

In this “Names Not Numbers” project, UBC’s Enrolment Service Professionals (ESP) will provide personalized service assistance to incoming first-year students on their admissions process, registration, fee assessment, student financial support and student records.

This year, UBC enrolled 48,768 students (including 38,388 undergraduates and 10,380 graduate students) at their Vancouver Campus, which remains at the same level as last year. This broad-based admissions policy will also be introduced at UBC’s Okanagan campus to applicants for first-year programs next year.

UBC-Okanagan welcomes 1,933 new first-year students to its campus, including 1,249 students from B.C. high schools. Overall, enrolment has grown to 8,307 (including 7,652 undergraduates and 655 graduates), up from 7,932 last year.
