Tell me a bit about your background.
I was born in Victoria, raised in Vancouver and currently live in North Vancouver. It’s taken me 23 years, but I’ve finally come to love the rain! I took my first-year studies at UVic then finished my undergrad at UBC and did my graduate degree at SFU. I’ve been working in the field of learning and development for 30 years. I have two kids who went to Options: my son graduated from Econ at Queens last year and my daughter is going into third year at Western.
What makes you most excited about working at Options?
Working with young adults and Options’ amazing education team. I loved my years at university, so I’m also excited to live and plan vicariously through our students.
Who is your role model?
Too many to note; anyone who doesn’t judge and has a growth mindset.
What do you spend too much time doing?
Reading, napping (I pretend I’m meditating), planning meals for family and friends…
If you could teach a university course, what would it be?
Something to do with our mind/body connection. I’m reading lots on that right now and becoming obsessed! Or a history course, I love history. Any history.
What is your favourite snack?
Hawkins Cheezies! Or almond butter on apples if I need something nutritious.
Which well-known person or fictional character would be your ideal roommate?
Shrek, because he makes me laugh!
