We want to meet you! Options Solutions is seeking a temporary full-time Educational Consultant (to cover a one-year maternity leave), to join our talented team of admission experts – who are also task managers, coaches, and cheerleaders rolled into one.

The Educational Consultant works with students by exploring, evaluating, and constructing progressive action plans, based on their individual strengths, values, and interests. During each session, the Educational Consultant empowers, and guides young adults and their families, leading them towards their goals. The Educational Consultant is a task manager and cheerleader, ensuring that students are well-supported, energized and motivated throughout the entire process.

As an Educational Consultant your key responsibilities will include (but not be limited to):

  • Conducting one-on-one student and parent consultations
  • Maintaining ongoing communication with families to support them through the application process
  • Determining which services match the student’s needs and make appropriate recommendations
  • Developing relationships with local school counselors and connecting with community outreach organizations
  • Facilitating a variety of student group sessions
  • Supporting English, writing, and standardized prep curriculum development and instruction
  • Attending webinars, counsellor training sessions and professional development opportunities

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is empathetic with strong cross-cultural awareness and an understanding and sensitivity of the challenges associated with differences in cultural backgrounds       
  • Has excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal, written and digital) skills with the ability to clearly articulate processes to students, families, schools, and counselors
  • Has strong relationship building skills and ability to maintain a professional network
  • Has demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops and small group sessions both face-to-face and online
  • Is able to work both independently and within a collaborative team environment
  • Has the ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize work, and deliver/meet goals in a timely manner
  • Possesses strong research skills
  • Is a forward thinking, creative, and innovative
  • Is a proactive problem solver
  • Has a passion for coaching young adults
  • Has the ability to exercise diplomacy, tact and maintain confidentiality

We would be thrilled if you:

  • Hold a BC Teaching Certificate (or equivalent) and/or experience in academic counseling
  • Possess a degree in Education or Counseling
  • Have a comprehensive working knowledge of the BC curriculum and standardized test prep
  • Have knowledge of the Canadian, UK, and US post-secondary admissions processes
