Youth to Sea: Vancouver
Youth to Sea gives students ages 15-18 the opportunity to develop their problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills. By engaging with their local communities through learning journeys, soft skills workshops, and Ocean Service Projects, Youth to Sea helps equip young people with the skills, tools and strategies they need to be active decision-makers in their local, regional, and national communities.
During this 10-month program, students will engage with their local community to make a connection between themselves, their community, and our oceans. This hands-on service-learning program has three main components:
- Immersive learning journeys that help youth explore their connections to nature and science-based career paths;
- Skill-building workshops that work with the youth to improve their skills;
- Ocean Service Projects, which give youth an opportunity to create or be a part of their own service project in their community.
By the end of this program the students are expected to complete up to 120 service hours. This is a fully funded program with no cost to program participants.
Applications are open now! To learn more and apply, check out Youth to Sea’s website here.
