Youth Firefighting Opportunities – Vancouver
Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services provides different opportunities for secondary school students to learn that working as a firefighter involves more than just fighting fires.

Camp Ignite: firefighting camp for young women↗
Camp Ignite will show you a future of limitless opportunities demonstrating that anything is possible.
Camp Ignite is a 4-day camp from August 8 to11, 2024 that educates and inspires young women to follow their dreams. The camp is open to British Columbia girls in grades 11 and 12 (ages 16 to 19), and gives them an introduction to the world of firefighting.
Aside from firefighting, each participant will learn about fitness, nutrition, health, and teamwork.

VFRS Youth Academy↗
Vancouver Fire Rescue Services (VFRS) Youth Academy is a 5-day program that gives students the opportunity to experience the career training and work practice of a Vancouver Firefighter.
Through training like a firefighter recruit at Youth Academy, students will develop personal values and life skills such as teamwork, communication, professionalism, personal accountability, and service to community.
