SUMMARY:Grade 12 Groups Sessions: Session Two
DESCRIPTION:Fall is the busiest season at Options\, and there is a significant wait to meet 1×1 with a consultant. We want to help you get going! To provide assistance and serve our communities\, we have created a customized group model. Join three of our most senior staff: Melinda Giampietro\, Options president and founder; Monika Gay\, an Options senior consultant; and/or Mono Brown\, Options most senior writing coach. They will help you navigate through a series of group workshops to assist all of your needs during application season. You can pick and choose your sessions or do a full series. \nDo you know what you want to study\, but need help creating a plan? \nDo you know what you want to study but aren’t quite sure where to begin constructing a list of post-secondary institutions and what type of research you should be doing? This session is to help turn their ideas into a concrete application game plan. Students will be guided through a process to research programs and post-secondary institutions. We will discuss how to research how programs are alike and different and how to match programs to a student’s values. Students will leave with a concrete list of programs and institutions that they will consider applying to for fall 2022. \nCost for a full series: Register for session 2\, 3\, 5 and 6 for a total of $595 + GST (a savings of $125). No cancellations or credits will be given.

SUMMARY:Intro to Canadian Supplement Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This three-hour session introduces students to writing components for Canadian applications. \nThe session will include a presentation that outlines the typical essay and supplemental writing prompts required by major Canadian universities and programs (e.g. UBC\, Queen’s\, Western). During this presentation\, session leaders will also provide writing and time management strategies and sample essays from previous years’ successful applications. Students will then be given time to brainstorm and engage in practice writing exercises. Options Solutions writing coaches will give students one-on-one feedback on their drafts. \nBeginning the application process early will give students the opportunity to make the most productive use of their summer and enter grade 12 with more clarity and direction. \n  \nWhat do students have to say?\n“I really liked the tips\, exercises and examples of past students’ responses and what was good about them and what could’ve been improved. This allowed me to take good notes and implement what I thought was good into my applications.”

SUMMARY:Writing for Applications
DESCRIPTION:These sessions aim to help students complete the supplemental writing portions of their post-secondary and scholarship applications. \nWriting Workshop allows students to work on the written portions of their US\, UK\, and Canadian applications (and scholarship applications\,\ntoo!) in an oversighted and productive environment. Students are able to receive assistance in all parts of the writing process: brainstorming\, drafting\, editing and finalizing their work. We accommodate students working on a variety of projects all in the same session\, and our writing coaches work personally with students on their unique pieces. \n\nStudents should have handy their list of universities and programs they are applying to for this session.\nIf you are in person\, please bring a laptop. All students need a Google account to access Google Drive and Google Classroom.\nDue to COVID protocol\, please plan to wear a mask and bring your own water bottle\, snacks and writing utensils.\nWe strongly encourage all students to attend an Intro to Canadian Supplement Writing Workshop before attending a Supplement Writing Workshop.\n\n
