Tips to Improve Your SAT/ACT Score

on

Tackling the SAT or ACT test can be an intimidating task. Once you get past the initial hurdle of taking the exam, it can be equally challenging to determine the best ways to improve your scores. Here are a few tips to help make the process more manageable:

1. Familiarize yourself with the test.

While the SAT and ACT exams do have areas of overlap, be sure to note the differences in subject content and scoring methods. Understanding the structure of the test, the content being tested and the best strategies for tackling the test as a whole will go a long way in helping you succeed.

2. Attend a prep session.

One of the best ways to improve your score is consistent and continuous practice. Guided interactive and collaborative preparation with other students will help you learn and improve in a supportive environment. 3. Examine your individual scores.

Official test scores give you a breakdown of how you scored on each section. Most students are strong in some subject areas, but struggle with other subject areas. Focus your studying on improving your scores in weaker areas so that they can help supplement your stronger areas, instead of bringing down your overall score.

4. Try to be confident and relaxed.

You’ve been through the test-taking process, and you know what to expect, which is a big advantage. You can focus instead on managing your time and implementing test-taking strategies to improve your score.
