Kerry Sheppard is a consultant/coach who works with Options Solutions Educational Consultants in Vancouver, B.C.

Kerry earned his law degree in 1986 from the University of Victoria.  He was a summer student and articled student with Davis & Company (now DLA Piper (Canada) LLP) in Vancouver.  Kerry was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1987, and he practiced with Davis & Company for seven years. In 1994, he joined The Law Society of British Columbia (Lawyers Insurance Fund) as in-house counsel. He remained with The Law Society for ten years.

Kerry also practiced for several years with a highly-regarded tax and trust firm in Vancouver, and as in-house counsel with the Public Guardian and Trustee of British Columbia, before returning to Davis/DLA Piper in 2010 as the firm’s Director of Student Programs.

He remained in that role for over nine years, until the end of 2019. As Director of Student Programs, Kerry was responsible for the recruitment and professional development of articled and summer students for the firm’s Vancouver office, and also actively participated in the recruitment of students for the firm’s offices in Toronto, Edmonton, and Calgary.

Kerry has extensive experience in the Vancouver and Toronto summer and articling student markets. Over his years with Davis/DLA Piper, he reviewed approximately 4,500 resumes, and conducted more than 1,500 interviews. He has participated in numerous presentations to law students across the country (at law schools including Dalhousie, University of Alberta, UBC, UVic, and Thompson Rivers University).

Kerry enjoys working with law students during the recruitment process, and recognizes the benefits to those students of understanding and preparing for that process.
