Amanda Halliday has been an Educational Consultant with Options Solutions since 2015. She is passionate about helping students find the post-secondary program that is the right fit for their own unique interests, values, and academic strengths. The choices can be overwhelming, and she welcomes the opportunity to guide students through the process with the ability to listen, plan, and guide a path that is right for them.
Amanda graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Physical Education (now called Bachelor of Kinesiology) with a second major in English, and then completed her Teaching Certificate in English and Physical Education. She later pursued careers in marketing, communications, sales and management.
While she was raising her three children, Amanda took on several volunteer roles in the community. She co-founded Souls in Stride and HEAL Canada, organizations dedicated to helping educate and empower vulnerable women and children in the DR Congo. She volunteered extensively through the West Vancouver School District at both the elementary and secondary level, and with the West Vancouver Soccer Club.
Amanda was initially drawn to Options Solutions as a client with her first two sons, who have since graduated from Commerce programs at Western and U of Calgary. Enjoying the process, she decided to put her background in teaching and in English to work to help other youth and their families navigate the post-secondary process. She has developed a wealth of knowledge of post-secondary programs and about the application process, but also brings the experience of a parent who has helped her own children navigate through post-secondary schooling and into successful careers. Her youngest daughter is currently attending UVIC to become a teacher.
When Amanda is not working, she can be found outside hiking, running or cycling on the North Shore mountains, enjoying adventure travel, or cooking for family and friends.
