Workshops and Group Sessions


Our group sessions are one of our most valuable services. During all of our workshops, students are situated in a collaborative and supportive learning environment with peers who are working toward common goals.

We’re constantly striving to develop and offer the most innovative programs for our students. Our workshops vary from season to season to support our students’ fluctuating needs.

  • Application Writing Supplement workshops

These sessions aim to help students complete the supplemental writing portions of their university and scholarship applications, including essays, personal statements, activities summaries and resumes.

  • Canadian Application workshops

These sessions are designed for students who want assistance completing their Canadian university and college applications in a constructive and supportive environment.

  • Video Interview workshops

This session prepares students for the video interview components of university applications, and will include a presentation that outlines the main components of video interview requirements, as well as a practical guide for successfully completing those videos.

  • Back-to-School Study Skills workshops

These intensive study skills sessions are designed to help students be academically prepared for their educational futures. The sessions are instructional as well as practical, hands-on work sessions, and they are offered at the start of the school year to help students get a start on forming solid study habits.

  • Write Well workshops

These sessions are designed to give current high school students a solid understanding of English grammar and writing conventions. The sessions will provide students with the knowledge and tools to enhance their communication abilities and to set the foundation for their upcoming English classes. These sessions will teach students the English basics in an accessible and interactive manner and give them the skills to write with confidence.

  • ACT Prep sessions

Our ACT Prep program prepares students to write the official ACT exam that is required for admission to many US universities. Prep options include full-length mock exams and exam debriefs, weekend study sessions and week-long boot camps. For more information about the program, go here.

  • Provincial Prep workshops (for semester students) – English 12, English 10, Socials 11, Math 10, Science 10
  1. Mock Provincial Exam Sessions: Students complete a practice exam, followed by a debrief of the marked multiple choice and the essay questions (where applicable).
  2. Instructional Sessions: Receive tips and instruction for exams; review sample questions, vocabulary & terms, review passages and written response questions (where applicable) as a group.
  • Course Planning 101 workshops

This workshop is designed to help grade 10 and 11 students and their parents prepare for their upcoming school year course planning. There will be a course simulation and also a thorough question and answer period. Students will leave with a clearer understanding of university requirements and what courses they need for post-secondary school admission.

  • Study Skills workshops

The path to law school requires careful planning and identifying the “right” school involves consideration of a student’s interests and career aspirations. This workshop is geared towards students planning to apply to law school.

  • Final Exam Prep workshops

Whether you are studying for finals, Provincial exams or AP exams, this session covers all the skills you will need for successful studying and exam writing. Half of the session will be devoted to a presentation on general study skills, and the remaining session time will offer specific guidance to help students prepare for one exam of their choice.

  • Medical School 101 workshop

The path towards medical school requires careful planning from the start of the process to the end of the process with matriculation. Preparing a successful application involves finding the balance between an individual’s strengths and the varying requirements of medical schools across the country. This three-hour workshop is geared towards students planning to apply to medical schools primarily in Canada, with introductions to US medical schools and abroad.

BOOT CAMPS:

  • ACT

A one-week session that focuses on helping students master the ACT through mock exams and group prep.

  • SAT

A one-week session that focuses on helping students master the SAT through mock exams and group prep.

  • US Admissions

A one-week session that helps students understand and tackle the US admissions process.

  • Canadian Admissions

A two-day session that helps students understand and tackle the Canadian admissions process.

  • High School Essay Writing

A one-week course that will prepare students for English and all writing-based courses at the high school level.

  • Math 1o

A one-week course introducing the concepts of math 10 for incoming students.

  • Pre-Calculus 11

A one-week course introducing the concepts of pre-calculus math 11 for incoming students.

  • Pre-Calculus 12

A one-week course introducing the concepts of pre-calculus math 12 for incoming students.

  • Intro to Calculus

A one-week session of differential and integral calculus and applications, with emphasis on understanding the concepts and methods for students entering Calculus 12, AP Calculus, or first-year university calculus.

WORKSHOPS:

  • One Day Canadian Admissions

The Canadian Admissions Writing Workshop will introduce students to supplemental writing for Canadian applications.

  • UK Admissions

A one-day session that that introduces students to the UK admissions process and the UCAS application system. Students will also focus on drafting the required personal statement and requesting references.

  • University Send-Off

This session will prepare students for post-secondary success from an academic and non-academic perspective.

  • University Level Writing

A two-day course that prepares university-bound students for the challenges of writing for different disciplines at the post-secondary level.

  • I’m in University, Now What

This session will prepare students for life after university by focusing on career exploration and resume building.

  • Law School 101

A three-hour workshop that is geared towards students planning to apply to law school and related programs.
