SAT & ACT Prep

Most students who submit an application to a US post-secondary institution will need to take the SAT or the ACT exam.

At Options Solutions, we focus SAT and ACT preparation on two areas:

  1. Test-Taking Skills to develop your test-taking strategies and critical-thinking skills.
  2. Curriculum Development, which focuses on learning the content that is assessed on each exam, such as math concepts, grammar rules, and vocabulary.

We modify our SAT and ACT prep to suit your needs. Instead of using ineffective or formulaic methods, we identify our students’ strengths and growth-areas, and customize prep sessions to meet the needs of the group. Prep session materials are not re-used, so students can benefit from any session. And although our sessions build on each other, they are designed so that students can join at any point during the cycle. Each year we review our students’ results and feedback, which we combine with emerging research, in order to consistently improve our program.

Prep Options

This option includes a 4-hour exam (SAT or ACT), exam marking (including customized essay marking), and a 2.5-hour debrief. Each student is given a cover sheet to help them understand their successes and their areas needing improvement. In order to get an accurate estimate of a student’s abilities, we use only officially released SAT and ACT exams. This is the best “bang for your buck” prep wise, and the most crucial element of prep.
These weekend prep sessions are designed to deliver a concentration of exam prep. Each Saturday (and Sunday) is divided into two sessions: a morning session and an afternoon session. The material used in Super Saturdays and Super Weekends is different from any material used in previous prep sessions. Each Super Weekend is situated before an official ACT or SAT test date and is meant to offer a focused weekend of study.

Students who need assistance preparing for the Reading, Writing, and Essay components of the SAT exam or the English and Writing components of the ACT exam can meet with one of our writing coaches for individual prep sessions.
